What Consumes Your Thought Life?

SEPTEMBER 10

MATTHEW 7:3_And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

The same Matthew 18 parable applies to this verse as well.

You would be safe to make the comparison of a mote as the tiniest speck of wood that could blow into your eye. Then compare the beam to the Hyperion tree in the Redwood National Park. Another comparison could be between a grain of sand and Mount Everest.

In the Parable of the Wicked Servant, it would be like a penny compared to $1,153,000.00!

Notice in this verse Jesus uses the word behold, meaning take heed. Take heed means what you observe the most in a situation – what is foremost on your mind. You have already learned it would be what is foremost in your heart (the where your treasure is principle). It is what consumes your thought life. The most important thing to you.

God has miraculous things in store, and the Holy Spirit is searching deep within to see what consumes your heart.

I Corinthians 2:9-10 (KJV), “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”

PRAYER

Magnificent God, Let me behold the truths You teach—plant them in my heart. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.                   

Christ sees the deep places in my heart—He gives truth!

Free Souls

SEPTEMBER 4

MATTHEW 7:1_Judge not…

The kind of freedom Jesus teaches is not about keeping out of prison (although Jesus’ type of freedom could save you from that). Jesus wants to free souls.

A free soul gains wisdom.

Therefore a free soul has the ability to make wise decisions.

Wise decisions save from many forms of harm.

Wisdom is able to forgive and not carry the baggage of bitterness – which so often leads to physical sickness. 

The wisest man who ever lived, the phenomenal King Solomon, teaches this principle in Proverbs 2:10-13 (KJV), “When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; 11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: 12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; 13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness.”

Notice where wisdom enters – your heart. There is more to learn – Proverbs 4:7-9 (KJV), “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. 8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. 9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.”

PRAYER

God of Wisdom, Help me be free from judgment and make wise decisions. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.                   

Christ is wisdom—He wants me to learn to be wise!

They Could Say the Same About You

MATTHEW 7:1_Judge not…

Jesus says plainly not to judge. It is one of the Sermon on the Mount principles. All salty-lit-up disciples would call this a good principle and agree it is wrong to judge others. No one wants to be judged.  

More times than not when you say “Don’t judge me,” you judged the person you accused of being judgmental. You just judged someone by your standard of judgment when you called them judgmental. They could say the same about you.

Romans 2:1-3 (KJV), “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. 2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?”

There just isn’t any place for Christians to judge each other, or to judge unbelievers. God is the judge according to Psalm 75:7 (KJV), “But God is the judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another.”

God judges according to what He sees inside a heart, and according to what He knows will bring freedom. 

PRAYER

Holy Father, Help me not to be judgmental of others. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.                            

Christ does not want me to judge others—He helps me!

A Secure Future

MATTHEW 6:34_Take therefore no thought for the morrow…

Is the future high on your worry list? Everyone should think about the future. Certainly you should think about your eternal future. Do you know for certain where you will spend eternity?

Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJV), God tells His people, “…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Because God does not want you to spend time, energy, and health in worry, He made a way to secure your future. 

John 3:16-17 (KJV), “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

God wants the world saved. Choices must be made individually. You must open the door to your heart. Jesus stands knocking.

Within the next 15 minutes you will receive a Salvation post. If you are ready, pray the prayer. Print the page, sign, and date it.  Next, tell all your family and friends, and praise God that your future is secured.   

PRAYER

Jesus Savior, Praise You for giving Yourself to secure my eternal future! In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

Christ gave Himself for me—He is my Savior and Lord!

Your Ticket Out

MATTHEW 6:33_the kingdom of God…

If you seek God first, at a young age, you’ve made a wise decision. You are on the right path. If you are toward the end of your teen years, or mid-way through adulthood, or even in your senior years – it’s never too late. Jesus has been knocking on the door of your heart all these years. He is not one to walk out on those He seeks because they don’t welcome Him right away. Jesus patiently seeks you, wherever you are.  Whether that’s the pit, the gutter, or the dead-end street, Jesus seeks you. Don’t think you have to be out of those places for Jesus to want you. Jesus is your ticket out!

Know the most important thing in life and seek it.

Seek the first thing first.

Make the main thing the main thing.

Build a firm foundation on truth.

Proverbs 24:27 (KJV), “Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.”

Work is seeking, the field is the world, and the house is your life. Build your life in accordance to God’s plan, not your own.

Another way to seek God first is in the earliest part of your day. Begin each day with Jesus. Become more aware of His presence.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Help me seek You in the morning to be aware of You all day. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

Christ seeks me wherever I go—He finds me!
